Permanent Residence Permit

Foreigners visiting the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) can get a visa for up to 90 days within a period of 180 days. All foreigners who wish to stay in the TRNC for more than 90 days are required to obtain a residence permit.

Residents can obtain short-term permits, generally valid for one year and renewable under certain conditions. Long-term permits require demonstrating a specific purpose, such as property ownership, business activities, or sufficient income.

For property owners, it is possible to secure a residency permit without having the title deed, as long as a sales contract showing that at least one-third of the property price has been paid is presented. For income proof, applicants under 60 need to demonstrate savings equivalent to 12 times the minimum monthly wage.​

When you want to apply for a permanent residence permit (White Card) in Northern Cyprus, you therefore have several options to do so:

• 1. You own a property in Northern Cyprus. Currently the registration of the sales contract for a property under construction (even if construction has not started yet) is also accepted. In the case that your property is not your residential address (as it is not yet ready to move in) you also need to show a rental contract on Northern Cyprus.
• 2. You have an employment contract with a company on Northern Cyprus
• 3. You proove net assets on your bank accounts of 30.000 Euros (self-sufficiency assumption).
• 4. You open a business on Northern Cyprus

• Sales or rental contract.
• Local bank account with €10,000.
• Blood test for contagious diseases.
• Police report required from your country of origin and from Northern Cyprus.
• Children under 16 receive the permit automatically without extra paperwork.
• Process takes about a month and costs around 350 GBP.
• A lawyer or residency specialist can assist with the process.

• A valid passport.
• Your work visa for Cyprus (within the expiry date).
• An employment contract based in Northern Cyprus.
• Completed application forms from the employer.
• Temporary residence application form completed and signed (MVIS3).
• Tax clearance certificate from the employer.
• Details and proof of your accommodation in Northern Cyprus.
• Evidence of your financial savings to cover your living expenses.
• A recent medical certificate for specific illnesses (issued within the last 4 months).
• Certificate of criminal background check (issued within the last 6 months) from your home country and from Northern Cyprus.
• Medical certificates proving good health.
• Evidence of health insurance (Pitsas Insurances for a free quote).
• Bank statement for the application fee payment.
• Bank guarantee (if required).
