Development of the real estate sector in Turkey in March 2023– Surge In Mortgage Financed Property Sales in Turkey
House sales decreased by 11.5% in January-March 2023
In the January-March period, house sales decreased by 11.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 283 thousand 215.
Mortgage-financed sales decreased by 16.5% compared to March 2022 at 25,262 and 24.0% total sales share, (March 2022: 22.6%). In the January-March period, mortgaged house sales decreased by 13.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 58 thousand 822.
As a result of other real estate sales 80,214 real estate was sold. Other real estate sales decreased by 22.8% compared to March 2022. Other house sales had a 76.0% share of all house sales.
32,899 real estate was sold for the first time (new construction sales). The number of real estates sold for the first time decreased by 14.2% compared to March 2022. Of all real estate sales, the new real estate sales share in Turkey was 31.2% (March 2022: 28.6%).
In the sale of second-hand real estate, a total of 72,577 second-hand houses were sold. Second-hand sales decreased by 24.3% compared to March 2022.
Real estate sales to foreigners in Turkey over the same month of the previous year decreased by 38.7%, real estate sales to foreigners had 3.2% share of all real estate sales in March. Antalya ranked first with thousand 324 sales to foreigners. The followers of Antalya were İstanbul with thousand 90 house sales and Mersin with 240 house sales to foreigners.
