Development of the real estate sector in Turkey in April 2023– Surge In Mortgage Financed Property Sales in Turkey
House sales decreased by 18.6% in January-April 2023
In the January-April period, house sales decreased by 18.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 368 thousand 867.
Mortgage-financed sales decreased by 32.0% compared to April 2022 at 21,769 and 25.4% total sales share, (April 2022: 24.1%). In the January-April period, mortgaged house sales decreased by 19.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 80 thousand 591.
As a result of other real estate sales 63,883 real estate was sold. Other real estate sales decreased by 36.8% compared to April 2022. Other house sales had a 74.6% share of all house sales.
26,952 real estate was sold for the first time (new construction sales). The number of real estates sold for the first time decreased by 26.0% compared to April 2022. Of all real estate sales, the new real estate sales share in Turkey was 31.5% (April 2022: 27.4%).
In the sale of second-hand real estate, a total of 58,700 second-hand houses were sold. Second-hand sales decreased by 39.3% compared to April 2022.
Real estate sales to foreigners in Turkey over the same month of the previous year decreased by 60.3%, real estate sales to foreigners had 3.0% share of all real estate sales in April. Antalya ranked first with thousand 24 sales to foreigners. The followers of Antalya were İstanbul with 792 house sales and Mersin with 186 house sales to foreigners.
