Development of the real estate sector in Turkey in February 2021 – Surge In Mortgage Financed Property Sales in Turkey

A total of 81,222 real estate were sold in February 2021, which is 31,6% lower than February 2020. Istanbul ranks first with 15,929 house sales with a share of 19.6%, while Ankara comes second with (9.6% share) and 7,757 total sales, Izmir came third with(5.7% share) and 4,659 total sales.

Mortgage-financed sales fell %66,5 compared to February 2020 at 14,669. total sales were %18,1 (February 2020: %36,8 ). In mortgage sales, Istanbul ranked first with 3,174 house sales.

As a result of self-financing transfers 66,553 houses exchanged. Self-financing transfers decreased by %11,3 compared to February 2020. Istanbul was again the first with 12,755 real estate sales, Ankara came second with 6,055 sales. Followed with Izmir 3,653 sales.

24,737 houses were sold for the first time ( new construction sales ). The number of homes sold for the first time decreased %33,7 compared to February 2020. of all home sales new real estate sales share in Turkey %30,5 (February 2020: %31,4 ). Istanbul had the largest share in new construction sales, followed by Ankara and Izmir.

In the sale of second-hand real estate, a total of 56,485 second-hand houses were sold. Second-hand sales fell %30,7 compared to February 2020.
